M.K. OLIVER, originally from Liverpool and the middle child of five, studiously avoided reading at school, and only found his love of reading a little later in life. A former teacher and headteacher, he has spent his career in education and working for educational charities. Behind the scenes though, he continued to nurture his love of writing, enjoying the community of other aspirant writers in courses with the Royal Court Theatre, Curtis Brown and Faber & Faber.
